can donor eggs remain anonymous with popular dna testing?
This is a conversation that I'm hearing echoed in more and more places.
My husband and I had limited options and the easiest and most financially viable option for us was to use an anonymous donor.
Of course parenting for anyone is full of worries about your future child and for parents of anonymous DE conceived children you worry about that missing puzzle piece in their genetic history.
I'm
Personally I'm having conversations now with my husband about when we should start to do a DNA test for my son to find out more about his missing genetics.
Even if we do find out information about his donor and siblings of course we don't know if they'll be open to a relationship.
However I'm hearing more and more that anonymity with sperm and egg donors is becoming a thing of the past due to the popularity of online ancestry DNA tests.
More and more DC people and parents of DC children are turning to DNA tests to find out as much information as possible about their genetic history and make connecitons with genetic relatives.
For me this is great news and gives me so much comfort to know that I can start to make in roads and do the hard yards on his behalf to find out as much information about his genetics should he want to make more connections.
What are your thoughts on this? Have you/will you do the same? if not, I'd love to know all angles xox
